100 happy days, (6)

Shopping trip with my sister, in Lancaster, a town midway between our homes, accessible by train for both of us. image

The fabulous tulip tablecloth, Tove Jansson’s biography and the Arran Aromatics hand lotions and tulips were birthday presents for me from my sister. The cloth is a vintage Doultonian cloth in beautiful condition and wonderful clear colours. Tove Jansson’s, author of the Moomin books for children and the excellent Summer Book and Winter Book both of which I love, will be fascinating to read. The hand lotion is scented but delicately so and absorbs well leaving no marks on sewing or knitting in progress. We visited the lovely Fabrix, fabric shop while in Lancaster and I bought a couple of strips of cotton/linen fabric which I’m going to test for replacement cushion pad covers for our kitchen chairs – they need to be able to withstand washing and drying at regular intervals to remove muddy dog paw prints and tail waves!

We had a super day out, the weather was kind enough to stay dry and relatively sunny, so we were able to potter round the town and market stalls. We had an excellent lunch at the Whale Tail cafe in Penny Street , walked down to the canal and then back to the station to catch the train home.
